Build Your Financial and Personal Support Teams to Reach Your Goals Faster

If you know you’re about to cross a desert or climb a mountain, doesn’t it make sense to have all the resources you’ll need to achieve such a feat?

When it comes to achieving your life and financial goals, hard work and determination are only part of the equation. The real secret? You don’t have to do it alone.

Whether you’re launching a business, preparing for a major life transition (like having your first child or preparing for retirement), or finally getting serious about building financial greatness, some of the best resources you have is your support system of people to help you get there.

Having a strong team in place can be the difference between spinning your wheels and making real progress. In fact, research shows that building a community of personal and professional connections to help you achieve your financial goals dramatically increases your odds of success.

In our Latino community, we already have our circle of people we can depend on so you’ve likely already started building your network. But the information in this article will help you build, or make, your circle of support even stronger.

Why Support Systems Work: The Science Behind Teaming Up

Studies have consistently found that having accountability and support leads to better results in nearly every area of life:

For example, you’re 65 percent more likely to achieve a goal when you tell someone about it, according to AFCPE. But it gets even better: according to a study from The American Society of Training and Development, when you have an accountability partner and touch base through regular check-ins, that success rate jumps to 95 percent.

A 2020 study published in the Journal of Applied Psychology found that “perceived social support positively influences goal attainment and personal growth.” In other words, if you surround yourself with people who support your goals, you’re probably going to achieve them.

Harvard Business Review reports that having a peer group where you find mentorship, get feedback, and support significantly accelerate learning and leadership development.

While support doesn’t always have to be formal (your support systems can be your spouse, your cousin, your yoga instructor, or your financial advisor), what matters most is finding those people who can actually help you move forward.

The Two Teams You Need: Financial + Personal

We often separate money from the rest of our lives. But real-life goals—like starting a family, buying a home, or launching a business—require both personal and financial support. That’s why it’s important to build out two types of teams: financial and personal.

Your financial support team. These are the people who help you grow, manage, and protect your wealth:

  • Financial planner, advisor, or coach
  • Tax professional or accountant
  • Estate planning attorney
  • Insurance agent
  • Business coach or mentor

Your personal support team. These are the people who help you emotionally, practically, or logistically. These people include your:

  • Partner or spouse
  • Childecare providers or babysitter
  • Therapist or life coach
  • Accountability partner
  • Friends or family who cheer you on

When you treat your life like a team effort, you reduce stress, improve decision-making, and open the door to new opportunities.

The Power of the “Circle of Support”

In our community at LouisBarajas.com, we’ve created a simple but powerful tool to help you map out the people who can help you reach your next level: the Circle of Support Worksheet.

This worksheet walks you through:

  • Identifying external resources you might need
  • Selecting the best individuals for each role
  • Encouraging collaboration and communication among your team members

When you take the time to intentionally build your circle of support, you don’t just feel more confident—you become more capable.

Ready to Start?

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after working with thousands of families, business owners, and wealth builders—it’s this: no one creates lasting success alone. The most financially confident and fulfilled people I know didn’t get there by themselves. They leaned on others. They asked for help. They built their circle of support.

Too often, we carry the weight of our dreams by ourselves. But you don’t need to be superhuman to be successful. You just need to be smart enough to build a team around you that believes in your vision and wants to see you win.

So take this moment to reflect: Who’s in your circle? Who’s missing? Who do you need to bring in to help you get to where you want to go?

Remember, asking for support isn’t a weakness—it’s wisdom. Let’s move forward juntos.

Your dreams are possible. But you’re much more likely to achieve them with the right people beside you. Join our community and start building your circle of support.
